A possible lockdown over the coronavirus outbreak appears more imminent as a leaked document shows the Ghana Police Service has put in place a strategy to enforce the ban on movement.

The “restricted document” is titled “Deployment strategy for lockdown of Accra, Tema, Kumasi and Obuasi

The government has been under pressure to announce a lockdown at every news of an increase in infections. Ghana has so far recorded 136 cases of the deadly virus as of March 27, 2020 with the Upper West region recording its first case of the virus.

Already, there is a ban on public gathering, the worst hit being churches and mosques. That ban announced March 15, 2020 was followed by the president’s order on March 21, 2020 to close the country’s borders to prevent imported cases of the virus.

But with another weekend coming, there are indications, the government’s measures will be escalated.

The police service document only dated March 2020 reads, “it is anticipated that a partial to full lockdown of some parts of the country will be executed in a bid to contain the spread of the coronavirus.”

The police has strategized to seal of 15 routes within Accra, Tema and Kumasi. They are also prepared to “mount 24/7 road blocks, snap checkpoints” and also “robust day and night patrols.”

The document states that all offenders will be arrested and detained.

The operation is to be a joint exercise with the armed forces, immigration officers and the Bureau for National Investigation.

Ghana becomes the sixth African country to announce a lockdown as the continent watches the ravaging effects of coronavirus in Europe.

South Africa, Libya, Sierra Leone, Rwanda, Mali, DR Congo have all locked down.

Traditional priests in Aflao has started public consultations of deities in the traditional area and offering of sacrifices over Coronavirus disease.

The priests, brought together by Togbui Adzogaga Amenya Fiti V, Paramount Chief of Aflao Traditional area, would offer sacrifices for three days after, which they said a torrential downpour would wipe out the disease from Ghana and the world.

The Chief Priest, Tr?nua Sadzi said, the gods were not happy with adultery among women in the world, hence, the disease.

He said the virus was also brought about by witchcraft through enmity between two powerful countries and called for peace, unity and love in the world.

President gives out his three months salary to support the fight of covid 19

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has donated his three months salary as seed money to a yet to be established fund to help combat the spread of the coronavirus.

“I have directed the Controller and Accountant General to pay my April, May and June salaries to a special fund that would receive donations from philanthropists to help fight the outbreak,” the President said in a televised speech on Friday.

The move, the President added, would “support the efforts being undertaken to confront, contain, and combat coronavirus”.

This is not the first time President Akufo-Addo has donated his salary to support a national course.

The President in 2018 donated his November salary of GHC29,000.00 to the Korle Reconstructive Plastic Surgery Fund as part of his contribution to resourcing the Fund to assist Ghanaians who may require plastic surgery.

Kumasi , Accra, kasoa and Tema has been announced to lockdown for two weeks to avoid the spread of the pandemic .

Wa confirmed first case of covid 19

The Upper West Regional Minister, Hafiz Bin Salih, have announced that a case of coronavirus has been confirmed in regional capital Wa.

The patient is a 42-year-old Ghanaian who visited UK, Spain and returned to Ghana through Egypt.

“…[He] returned to Ghana eight days ago through Egypt and travelled from Accra to Wa through public transport and has been confirmed COVID-19 positive. This is the first case of a suspect [in the Upper West Region] whose samples were taken for test and the result is that the patient is a COVID-19 patient.

“I entreat all and sundry that the precautionary measures that have been prescribed to all of us must be adhered to. We need to continue to wash our hands regularly and where necessary, we should apply hands sanitizer

It is unclear whether the said patient is part of the four additional cases announced by the Ghana Health Service earlier today.

According to figures from the Ghana Health Service, the country has recorded a total of 136 cases. Majority of Ghana’s 136 confirmed cases, GHS says, are Ghanaians who returned home from affected countries and were under mandatory quarantine.

KOD Donates Hand Sanitizers and Liquid Soaps

A third year KNUST Chemistry student, Kyeremeh Oppong Daniel popularly known as KOD has manufactured and donate a huge number of hand sanitizers and liquid soaps to his society to fight covid 19.

In his released statement, he said many people in his society can’t afford for sanitizers and liquid soaps that is been used to protect our selves from the pandemic due to it high price on market .

“Fighting the corona virus is a worldwide effort and I started this initiative with the little I have learned which only saw the production of sanitizer and liquid soap,” KOD said.

According to him, the street was his target as most people who reside there cannot provide themselves with these things.

Ghana is still recording the cases of the pandemic disease which has rise to 136 now and he need apply his knowledge he has to protect his society from been affected he added.

He was been accompanied by his course mates and other staff members from their department to donate these items to the society today .

Police arrest 40 year old woman for sexually assaulting 8 years boy.

POLICE have arrested a 40 year old woman of Lusaka for indecently assaulting an eight year old boy.

In a statement, Police spokesperson Esther Katongo Cindy Mulopo the suspect as Cindy Mulopo of Chilenje South.

She said the mother to the boy took the child to the hospital where it was discovered that he had a sexual transmitted infection which he allegedly contracted from Mulopo.

“Police in Lusaka have arrested a female adult aged 40 identified as Cindy Mulopo for allegedly indecently assaulting a male juvenile aged eight years. The report was received from a 28 year old mother of the victim of Lusaka’s old Chilenje South that her son a male juvenile, was Indecently Assaulted by the suspect . The same is reported to have occurred on unknown dates on two occasions between February 2020 and 6th March 2020 in Chilenje,” Katongo said.

“It is alleged that the victim fell sick and was taken to a local Hospital where he was diagnosed with a Sexually Transmitted Infection and it was later discovered that the suspect indecently assaulted the victim and threatened him that he would die if he disclosed to anyone. The suspect is in Police custody charged with indecent assault on a boy.”

Kennedy Agyapong gives nose masks and 200 beds to support the fight of covid 19

The member of parliament for Assin central Hon. Kennedy Agyapong has donate beds and protective kits to the Ghana health service , to support the fight on corona virus.

The donated items were , 200beds, 200 protective cloths, 100, 000 noise mask and groves , and 100 gallons of hands sanitazers .

According to him , he gave the 200beds and 200 protector cloths to ministry of health to distribute to the selected hospitals which handle the cases across the country.

He also gave the six created regions 3000 groves and 3000 nose mask to their regional hospitals to protect the citizens.

5000groves and 500 gallons of hands sanitizers has been send to eight of the previous region . the regions were , Volta , eastern, western , northern , Brong Ahafo, upper east and west , and Greater Accra. He said the other two will receive theirs.

Twenty five thousand groves were given to Tema regional hospital and Accra , 37 military hospital.

Fasting and prayers can’t save Ghana from covid 19 , we need repentance – pastor advise .

The founder and leader of Zoe international church , Rv Francise Nyiraba has advise Ghanaians to repent and obey God words that can save the nation from this pandemic disease .

He said though the president had given out ruling that the nation should fast and pray to find the solution to the virus , but the major thing is repentance, and without that our prayers and fasting we did will be meaningless.

The nation has offended God , and we need to repent and ask for forgiveness and stay out from the sins we do , by so doing God will see us through, he added.
